One of Hollywood’s quickest rising talents, Jonathan Majors will play a significant part in the development of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, a conviction for beating his girlfriend has destroyed his career and raised serious concerns about Marvel’s future plans.
Majors was supposed to be central to the films that Marvel is counting on to turn around its business, films that would also likely solidify his place on Hollywood’s A-list.
Many people considered his debut as the villain Kang the Conqueror to be the high point of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which received mixed reviews and underwhelming box office performance upon its release in February.
“Attractive Jonathan Majors is the redeeming quality of Wonder’s puzzling, unreasonable most recent trip,” the paper detailed.
As indicated by the Hollywood Correspondent, “you’re tense each second he’s onscreen”. Time Out further stated: “There’s a lot more Majors to come in future Marvel films and he’s really the only thing here that makes a continued story look even vaguely enticing.”
But after being found guilty of two counts of assault and harassment connected to a fight with then-girlfriend Grace Jabbari in New York in March, Majors has now been removed from two scheduled Avengers films. He was acquitted of two additional charges.
After making his breakthrough in the critically acclaimed 2019 drama The Last Black Man in San Francisco, Majors’ career had been on the rise. He later starred in the Netflix western The Harder They Fall.
In addition, he played Michael B. Jordan’s opponent in the boxing sequel Creed III, received an Emmy nomination for HBO’s Lovecraft Country, and starred in Spike Lee’s war drama film Da 5 Bloods.
Additionally, he was widely anticipated to receive an Oscar nomination for his role as an amateur bodybuilder in the drama Magazine Dreams, which had its Sundance Film Festival premiere earlier this year. However, the film’s release was postponed due to his arrest.
The actor was signed by Marvel Studios to play different iterations of the powerful, multiverse-spanning Kang in the Disney+ series Loki. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania marked his big-screen Marvel debut.
Those who stayed through the credits saw the way the movie hinted at multiple Kang storylines in the future.

Marvel Films
Majors’ character is even mentioned in the title of the 2026 film Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, and he was supposed to play a significant role in the 2027 film Avengers: Secret Wars.
“Marvel had more riding on Jonathan Majors than maybe any other actor,” said Jake Coyle, a film writer for the Associated Press. ” “As of now it’s going out every which way from him, and throwing significant stretches of plans for its imaginative universe in jumble.”

Majors claimed not guilty, but Ms. Jabbari’s evidence along with text messages disclosing a prior injury and calling himself a “monster”as well as audio of him discussing his “temper” and his status as a “great man”meant that his reputation had taken a serious hit.

Marvel’s choices
The studio is trying to re-establish itself as the all-conquering blockbuster machine after a run of lackluster releases, which is why Marvel decided to fire him.
A condition known as “superhero fatigue” has been diagnosed in once-enthusiastic audiences, and the studio’s most recent release, The Marvels, had its lowest box office opening.
Therefore, the business could use Majors’ exit as an opportunity to review its strategies and initiate a course correction.
Following the departure of director Destin Daniel Cretton last month, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty has yet to begin production. Michael Waldron, the writer of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, has recently joined the project to rework the narrative.
The movie might abandon the Kang persona and focus on a new foe, since the MCU hasn’t yet explored the stories of other supervillains like Doctor Doom.
Marvel has produced five projects centered around the character, so it’s possible that they won’t give up the Kang plot so quickly.
Thus, they have the choice to have another actor play Majors, which is not unheard of in the Marvel universe.
Don Cheadle replaced Terrance Howard as Colonel James Rhodes after Terrance Howard left the cast due to pay disputes, and Mark Ruffalo assumed the roles of Bruce Banner and The Hulk after Edward Norton left the MCU due to creative differences.
“Their choices are reworked, or leave what they have done and present another lowlife, yet that will take a ton of time,” adds Addo-Quaye. “I think a recast would be preferable. You can suspend your disbelief, so even though we’ve only seen Jonathan Majors portray Kang and the many incarnations of the character, I wouldn’t mind seeing another actor play the part. “At the end of the day, this is a comic book movie. I believe creating a new villain will take too much time.”
Perhaps Majors himself finds the answer to be less straight forward. These were offense accusations, and he has to deal with upwards of a year in prison or probation when he’s condemned in February.
Different entertainers have returned from comparable circumstances after time and contrition, with free movies bound to offer him a course than enormous studios.
One of Hollywood’s most encouraging abilities is probably not going to get back to similar levels, and he is the main party at fault.
